Zandra Rhodes Archive Online
The University for the Creative Arts (UCA) has launched a digital archive of work by British fashion designer Zandra Rhodes at zandrarhodes.ucreative.ac.uk. The archive has been made possible following a collaboration between students and researchers at UCA, along with Rhodes herself, who worked together to prepare, photograph and catalogue 500 dresses and garments from the designer’s private archive.
The digital study collection is available for non-commercial use in teaching, learning and research. Such a project is intended to promote educational and research opportunities for emergent fashion and textile designers, allowing free global access to a collection that features iconic Rhodes designs from the 1960s up to the present day. The project has also created access to a previously unseen collection of fashion drawings from the ‘Zandra Rhodes Style Bibles.’
To find out more about how the digital archive was created there is a blog written by all the team involved in the project, including links to press coverage and various publications relating to the creation of the archive.
