Inspired by….Gothic: The Dark Heart of Film

The BFI is currently hosting a season of Gothic Horror across cinema and television, exploring the themes ‘Monstrous,’ ‘The Dark Arts,’ ‘Haunted,’ & ‘Love is a Devil,’ with 13 programmes selected. From German Expressionism, to Universal Studios Horror & Hammer Horror, as well as more contemporary examples including Rosemary’s baby, Daughters of Darkness & Hellraiser, the programme promises to offer a wide-thematic exploration of Gothic film.

Here at WSA library we have a good selection of films & literature dedicated to the Gothic – from classic films such as The Shining, The Innocents & Nosferatu, to Gothic street fashion, and Gothic inspired contemporary Art & Design.
