“But one needs a change sometimes”
“Autumn seemed to arrive suddenly that year. The morning of the first of September was crisp and golden as an apple.” – J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Autumn has certainly arrived at Winchester School of Art. The trees outside our windows are shedding their leaves and the walkways are now strewn with glorious golden hues which crunch and crackle underfoot. Although it is easy to mourn the end of the summer, as Tove Jansson’s Moominpappa once said: “But one needs a change sometimes. We take everything too much for granted, including each other”.
The start of the new academic year has brought many exciting changes, including a new cohort of students. We have really enjoyed welcoming all our new and returning students to the Library and introducing our new students to the collections.
In response to student feedback, we have redecorated our computer areas and introduced a ‘new books’ shelf outside Library 1. New books, artists’ books, Visionaires and journals have also been added to our collections.
We have expanded our social media presence by creating a new Instagram account to showcase our Library space and collections. Follow us on Instagram and Twitter @WSALibrary.
We have also welcomed two new members of staff to the Library team. Lena Munday is our new Principal Library Assistant and Donna Ballan our new Site Engagement Librarian.
As a Library, we are constantly changing in order to develop our collections, resources and services. We have many more exciting changes planned for the future and we are looking forward to sharing them with you.
